Engagement Photos

Ah, engagement photos. When this trend first popped up a few years ago, I had a lot of fun mocking it. Then, of course, once my own engagement came around, I had crawled deep down the rabbit hole, and desperately wanted them.

Our wedding photographers are based in Nashville, so our chances of having them take engagement photos of us (ostensibly "included" in our wedding package) was looking pretty weak.

Molly still thought engagement photos were ostentatious, unnecessary, and dumb, but in spite of that, she set to work, trying to think if there was a way she could way she could make engagement photos, in some form or another, happen for us.

It turned out that Molly's stepmother's friend's daughter was starting a photography business in New York. She especially wanted to build a portfolio of gay couples. She was, in fact, giving away a free session to a gay couple that month, and we jumped on it!

We met on a cold day in the Meatpacking district and wandered around on the High Line and surrounding streets.  In thirty minutes, we were on our way. Even Molly admitted it was quick and painless.

Braving the cold is easy with you.
